The Harvest Moon

£200.00

Framed original cyanotype on conservation quality 300gsm watercolour paper, with copper metal leaf detail.  Presented in a white conservation quality mount with white wooden frame.

The Harvest Moon is a phenomena that occurs for several evenings at the end of summer when the moonrise comes soon after sunset. This results in an abundance of bright moonlight early in the evening, which was a traditional aide to farmers and crews harvesting their summer-grown crops. In my interpretation I use copper metal leaf to represent both the moon and the corn ready to be harvested. A lone bird flies off to roost.

You can read about the cyanotype process on my blog.
