The Sun Stands Still

£220.00

Framed original cyanotype on conservation quality 300gsm watercolour paper, with copper metal leaf detail.  Presented in a white conservation quality mount with white wooden frame.

The Sun Stands Still represents the winter solstice. The word solstice comes from Latin sol “sun” and sistere “to stand still.” So, loosely translated, it means “sun stand still.”  The sun hangs low in the sky and so appears to hardly move during the shortest day. I have used copper metal leaf for the setting sun across the fields. It appears both bleak and beautiful at the same time.

If you would like to know more about the cyanotype process I have written about it on my blog
