Midsummer dance

£180.00

Framed original cyanotype on conservation quality 300gsm watercolour paper, with gold ink detail.  Presented in a white conservation quality mount with white wooden frame.

Midsummer dance is one of an ongoing series of cyanotypes featuring a sundial.  As a beekeeper I am very happy when the sun is warm enough for my honey bees to go foraging – the title of this piece refers to the ‘waggle dance’ they perform to show each other where the best pollen and nectar is – such clever insects.

Birds and insects rely on the position of the sun for migration of both long distances and for daily purposes. To find out more about the background to this cyanotype I have written a blog post called Wild Clocks which was originally featured in the British Sundial Society Bulletin in December 2020.
